Computer Case and Expandability Expandability There are shelves inside the computer called bays. Bays can be 3.5 inches or 5.25. Inches wide. There are 2 types of bays in a computer, internal and external. (You can see the external bays by looking at the front of the computer) Devices like cd-rom drives or DVD-ROM drives slide right into the external bays an you can see hem at the front of the computer and you can access them easily Like this If here are bays that are not in use on the computer, then they will have plastic faceplates over them. You cannot see internal bays because they are made for hard disks and memory drives. When you add drives to your computer they all need power to work So you must plug in the power cables which either give out 150 or 200 watts power supply. Protection A good, rigid, well-built case can keep all the things that could harm a computer out of the inside. It is possible to find cheap cases that fit together poorly but they cannot keep out all the harmful materials. Some cases are left unfinished and can become harmful to the user if it has sharp edges, burrs, and metal silvers. Longevity Computers and their hardware can be damaged by heat and therefore they brake fast. That is why all computers have a cooling system like a fan or in the Sony vaio desktop they have pipes running through the body with cold water. Turbo switches A turbo switch is designed to slow down games during game play. This was designed because when computer software speed increased the games were running too fast which was the time to push the turbo switch. Key lock Switch Not usually found on new cases. By turning the key in the key lock switch, you turn off the keyboard connection to the computer, which prevented others from messing around with the controls.
